Youth Programs

There are various programs in which you can enroll your child in to learn more and get excited about science and technology in our area! Most programs also have summer programs for children.

MPS after-school programs at schools, specifically: Andersen United, Anwatin Middle, Dowling Urban Environmental, Hale Community, Lake Nokomis (Wenonah and Keewaydin), Jenny Lind Elementary, Lucy Craft Laney at Cleveland Park, Lyndale Elementary, Marcy Open, Northrop Community, Whittier International. 

GEMS and GISE are both science afterschool and summer programs for K-8 grade girls and boys respectively. Here are the schools in which this program is offered.

High Tech Kids is based in Minneapolis and gives students in grades 4-12 opportunities to experience science in fun, hands-on science, engineering and technology programs and events.

YWCA Girls, Inc. is aimed at girls in grades 4-8 and gives opportunities to discover an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. 

YMCA: Twin Cities engages children in science activities along with arts & humanities, service learning, homework help, literacy, character development and conflict resolution.

Leonardos Basement has programs for 6-16 year olds that have emphasis in STEM and creativity including After School, Saturday Open Shop, Creavity Convention and a Lego Program (Lego Club, Lego Machines for Young Builders, Lego Robotics).

Minneapolis Parks and Recreation has many programs where children learn about the outdoors and wildlife.
